The Beach Life

Bournemouth Beach

Located directly beneath a magnificent cliff top, Bournemouth’s very own spectacular beach is in perfect sight and in front of our sea front hotels.

This winning seven mile long beach is the perfect place to enjoy your day. Whether it’s stunning views of the Isle of Wight, a good old fashioned family picnic, going for long walks along the traditional seaside piers or enjoying all types of tasty food which are on offer, Bournemouth beach is the ideal beach all year round.

Bournemouth’s spectacular coastline is action packed all year round especially in the warmer months as it hosts fantastic events and festivals. The Bournemouth Air Festival is an annual event that takes place in August/early September. This is the biggest event of its kind in the world, and offers four spectacular days of flying displays, shopping as well as evening entertainment. October is another month of great entertainment as Bournemouth lights up with the Arts by the Sea Festival, offering 10 days of pure entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

Mupe Cove

A breath taking walk high above Lulworth Cove with spectacular views over land and sea. In Mupe Cove, to the east, chalk cliffs rear dramatically from limestone ledges and the waves lap around a chain of tiny islands before curling in around Lulworth to lick along its shingle beach. Just a few metres to the west, the sea has carved caves and arches in the softer rock. Children old enough for the distance and hills will love the rocks and beach, which makes for a quieter alternative to the popular Lulworth Cove and is great for rock pooling.

Chesil Beach

You might think the long, straight, 18-mile length of Chesil Beach would be far from secret but look behind it and you’ll find a hidden gem of a beach by the Fleet lagoon. This walk begins inland at the Victoria Inn and leads to the South West Coast Path where it joins the banks of the Fleet, a freshwater lagoon that has its own beach. The Fleet is a nature reserve and is a great place for spotting migrating birds and the famous Abbotsbury Swans.

Chapman’s Pool

This scenic walk along the limestone coastline features dramatic caves and platforms caved out by millions of years of erosion by the sea, and hundreds of years of human quarrying. From prehistoric times humans have lived here and exploited the cliffs and coves for a wide variety of purposes, ranging from prehistoric tools to medieval farming to smuggling in 18th and 19th century.
